Splendid Isolation - Behind Closed Doors
Ian Berry Recreates his Lockdown Living Room in Denim
Walking in to the main hall you’ll be faced with an art installation made all from denim jeans, with a denim Chesterfield, plants made from jeans and a record player with many albums all in shades of indigo.
After Ian Berry’s photoshoots were cancelled in lockdown, he started to see what was around him. You see hints of his life and year, from his record collection, his choice of books and family pictures to the view from his window with an #iclapfor projection.
mirrored across from the installation is a piece of the same living room made all out of denim in Ian’s usual style.

Pieces from Behind Closed Doors complimented the home isolation theme with works that took on a new meaning this year.
First Sun (2012) on the left brought a new contextualisation of the piece as you exited the room that had been showing interiors. It depicts a busy Primrose Hill in London’s Regent Park in 2012, when all the people flock there, just like they have this summer as they have been unable to meet inside.
